Topic: The role of Science in the future defence of Australia


The Club’s commemoration of those who served in Bomber Command is, of course, primarily historical. The contribution of the many scientists who supported Bomber Command with navigation, communication, and novel ordnance, has generally been assumed. Tonight we will look forward. Professor Mudge will speak to us of the role of science in the future defence of Australia.


Speaker Biography

Following a Ph D in computer science, Craig Mudge worked as a computer designer in product development with Digital Equipment Corporation (now HP) in Boston, taught at Caltech,was a Chief Research Scientist with CSIRO founding the nation’s first microelectronics research program, founded Austek Microsystems, a chip company which produced chips for Cochlear, the Australia Telescope, several defence projects, and US computer companies.
